Lucijan Bratus is a painter, graphic artist, graphic designer and professor at the Academy of Fine Arts, Department of Design at the University of Ljubljana. He was born in 1949 in Vipava, Slovenia. In 1971 he graduated at the Department of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana and obtained an MA in Graphic Arts in the class of Marjan Pogacnik in 1973. Since 1987 he has been teaching calligraphy at The Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana.
