Artur Frankowski

Born in Zamosc (Poland). Graphic designer, typographer and type designer. Over the past decade he has been full-time lecturer on typography and graphic design at the Warsaw University of Technology, Poland. In 2004 he finished his PhD thesis on legibility of type on cartographic maps. He has published type and visual communication-related articles in Polish design & print magazines.
Author of several typefaces. He had created the sans serif typeface Grotesk Polski inspired by the first Polish typeface design - Antykwa Poltawskiego.
In September 2004, together with Magdalena Frankowska, he started Fontarte type foundry (www.fontarte.com). By Fontarte they want to preserve Polish typographic heritage and introduce new directions in Polish type design culture.
